Champion bicycle racer Tony Rominger was suddenly without his wheels this morning right in the middle of the Tour of Italy. Rominger, who is leading the race, woke in the Swiss Alpine resort of Lenzerheide to discover that thieves had stolen his customized road cycle (estimated value: $4,400) during the night. Undeterred, Rominger borrowed a bike, took off on the next leg and reached Treviglio without losing a second of his 3:14 minute lead. Maybe they should have stolen Rominger.
