Federal prosecutors in Minneapolis agreed to drop murder-for-hire charges against Qubilah Shabazz, the daughter of Malcolm X, who had beenaccused of plotting to assassinate Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. The deal requires Shabazz toabandon her allegations of an FBI frame-upand seek drug and psychiatric treatment. U.S. Attorney David Lillehaug said the charges arose "out of an extraordinary set of historical and personal events which appeared to have triggered Shabazz's actions," an allusion to her father's violent death 30 years ago before the 4-year-old Qubilah's eyes. The decision followed a remarkable truce: Malcolm X's widow, Betty Shabazz -- who has publicly accusedFarrakhanof the murder -- agreed last week appear with Farrakhan in New York next Saturday.
