TIME Magazine reports that acting on a tip from the Japanese government, the U.S. prepared to raid the cult's midtown Manhattan office in March, before the Tokyo subway attack. An Air Force C-141 transport plane loaded with federal agents took off from Andrews Air Force base, but the raid was stopped when a federal judge would not issue a search warrant. The Associated Press reported today that the receptionist at the office said there was nothing there to interest federal agents. "We have nothing chemical here. Even the cockroaches we let go."
