Joe Montana made it official today, announcing his retirement after 16 glorious years in the NFL. Flanked by friends, former teammates and executives from the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs, Montana thanked the several thousand San Francisco fans who attended the retirement ceremony. Although the fans chanted "One more year," Montana said it was time to go. Montana led the 49ers to four NFL championships, but injuries and age foiled his attempt to win one with the Chiefs.
