Senate Majority Leader Bob Dolemay block a vote onDr. Henry Foster's nomination for surgeon general. On a Sunday broadcast of NBC's "Meet the Press," Dole said that he's not sure the nomination will even get out of the Senate Labor and Human Resources Committee, and "If it does, I'm not certain that I'll call it up."TIME Washington correspondent Michael Duffysays that while Dole certainly could block Foster's nomination, his comments are really more about establishing his credentials with conservatives than with a concern about Foster. "The nomination probably won't even get out of committee, and Dole didn't say he would or would not call it up. This isDole trying to do a favor for conservatives. The story here is that it seems to be working."
