Dozens of Alabama Baptist ministers are upset over Kmart's decision to stay open on Easter Sunday for the first time in the company's history. The ministers contend the discount chain is exploiting a religious holiday to make money. Some 35 ministers wrote to the Troy, Mich.-based retailer and two store managers in Dothan, Ala., urging Kmart to reconsider. Kmart said its employees will be working short Easter shifts on a voluntary basis and that the company is staying open to meet the needs of customers.
