POWELL MAKES IT PERFECTLY CLEAR

A spokesman forColin Powellemerged today to deny reports that the former Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman had agreed to advise Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole in his presidential bid -- or was anywhere near deciding to become a candidate himself. "Colin Powell is very actively devoted to the writing of his memoirs," said spokesman Bill Smullen. "He has said repeatedly that while he's not going to rule anything in or rule anything out in terms what he's going to do with the rest of his life, he has no fire burning in his belly at this point for politics."
