GUN BAN ROLLBACK HITS THE HILL

House Republicans who swore to repeal President Clinton'sban on assault weaponslast summer introduced their bill today. Members of House Firearms Legislation Task Force, backed by several conservative Democrats, threw in mandatory minimum sentences forusing a gun in any serious state or federal crime: five years for possessing a firearm, 10 years for brandishing one and 20 years for firing one. The House plans a May vote.
