IRAQ DENIES IT IS MAKING BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS

Iraq today denied Clinton Administration accusations that it is trying to producebiological weapons.TIME Defense correspondent Mark Thompsonsays the Administration made the allegation yesterday as awarning to Russia and France, which are leaning toward lifting U.N. oil and trade sanctions against Iraq. The charge is based on a U.N. report that said Baghdad has not accounted for 17 tons of chemicals that the Administration believes were imported to grow germs and the toxin that causes botulism.
