CIA REPORT ACCUSES SERBS

A classified CIA report blames Serbs for 90 percent of the "ethnic cleansing" that has taken place during the Balkans war and links leading Serbian politicians to the atrocities. Assistant Secretary of State Richard Holbrooke today told Congress the CIA found that while Muslims and Croatians also are guilty of such crimes, "the burden of responsibility and guilt lies clearly with the Serbs." The New York Times reported that the U.S. was keeping the report secret because it could undermine the western support of Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic as a potential peacemaker.
