LINE-ITEM VETO ON DECK

The Governmental Affairs Committee today approved two presidential line-item veto bills that could face a full Senate vote next week. The stronger version has been approved by the House, but faces considerable Senate opposition. It would require a two-thirds majority vote for Congress to reinstate spending items killed by the president.
