Nearly three-quarters of all Americans think Dr. Henry Foster should be able to make his case before the Senate, a new Associated Press poll finds. The poll, conducted Friday through Tuesday among 1,008 adults, also showed that about a third of all Americans sense a lack of truthfulness in his remarks; however 43 percent see the misstatements as being innocent. And an overwhelming 70 percent polled say that having done abortions should not disqualify Foster from the job of surgeon general.
