Stocks and bonds fell sharply today as the value of the dollar fell against most major currencies and this week's moves by investors in Mexican holdings into U.S. securities eased as the plunging peso stabilized. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell more than 22 points to 3.849.49 after gaining 94 points over the last four days of trading. Trading volume was light, however, on the New York Stock Exchange as about 244 million shares changed hands. Meanwhile, retail stocks -- hurt by poor holiday shopping results -- continued to fall.
