Dee Dee Myers, the first woman and at 33 youngest person to hold the White House press secretary's post, wrapped up her tenure today with a slew of half-serious parting shots at the press, Republicans and men in general. Among them were advice for her successor (likely to be current State Department spokesman Mike McCurry): "Try to have a sense of humor . . . because you guys (the press) are a big joke." And on women in Washington: "This is still very much a man's town and a man's business."
