First, aplane dives into the White House. Then agunman opens fire on the White House, and now, the Secret Service admits, a burglar slipped into one of the government's most tightly-patrolled offices and made off with a TV, a radio and other sundries. On Oct. 18, it said, someone apparently slipped through a second-story window into the Office of Foreign Assets Control -- across the street from its majestic parent building, the Treasury Department -- and left footprints all over tables, evading a 24-hour guard and an elaborate computer security set-up. BTW: The office itself already had headaches, since a federal grand jury, the Treasury inspector general and congressional committees are probing its conduct in trade embargo cases.Post your opinion on theWashingtonbulletin board.
