HEARING SET ON ROLE OF ITO WIFE IN FUHRMAN PROBE

O.J. Simpson's attorney, Robert Shapiro, today said his team has been granted a hearing on the possibility that Judge Lance Ito's wife, Peggy York -- today the highest-ranking woman on the Los Angeles police department -- may be linked to the case. That possibility came to light after suggestions surfaced that she was involved in the investigation of a police detective who played a critical role in the murder investigation.The detective, Mark Fuhrman, has been the target of police inquiries and questions have been raised by Simpson's legal team about his role in the probe of the double murder. A different judge will preside over the hearing, scheduled for Monday.
