Reluctant to call it quits -- after all, he's $27 million in the hole, personally -- California's GOP Senate challenger, Michael Huffington, today refused to concede to the predicted winner, Democratic incumbent Dianne Feinstein. "I believe in miracles," the multimillionaire said, still camping at his election-night base. With all precincts in, Feinstein led Huffington 47 percent to 45 percent, but both sides called for a quick count of the 500,000 to 700,000 absentee ballots that are keeping the state in suspense. Upset odds are slim: Huffington needs to outpoll Feinstein by 20 percent in the absentee count, but leads by only 6 percent in the votes tallied so far.Post your opinion to theElection '94bulletin board
