FLORIDA GOVERNOR . . . CHILES NOT BUSH-WHACKED YET

A new poll has Florida Democratic Gov. Lawton Chiles even or slightly ahead ofGOP challenger Jeb Bush, the former president's son who's been ahead for weeks. A Mason-Dixon/PMR poll of 809 registered voters last week has Chiles -- a former senator who's never lost an election -- at 48 percent to Bush's 45 percent (with a 3.5 percent error margin). Two weeks ago, Bush was five points ahead. BTW: The two go head-to-head tonight in their third debate, to be televised live on C-SPAN.
