Illegal aliens accused of committing crimes will face deportation even before trial under a pilot program in Florida. Gov. Lawton Chiles, who announced the start of the program in the midst of a tough re-election battle, was immediately denounced by Republican challenger Jeb Bush for pulling a vote-grabbing stunt. Florida already deports some imprisoned illegals. In the new program, to be tested for three months in Monroe, Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, aliens will be deported when they're charged. The program has been slammed by the American Civil Liberties Union.
