O.J. . . . ITO SAYS WE'RE NOT STARTING OVER

The judge in the O.J. Simpson case rejected a government motion to begin part of jury selection over again. Deputy District Attorney Marcia Clark requested that Judge Lance Ito dismiss 80 potential jurors who have been in court for in-depth questioning since earlier this month and startover. Clark filed the motion because, she said, her remarks about "lying" jurors last week were reported out of context in the media and would bias potential jurors against her case. At Wednesday's closed meeting, Clark contended that many potential jurors may be Simpson fans and would look to acquit him. "I wish that we could only put all the jurors" on lie-detector machines, Clark said. Ito said he had reminded jurors to avoid coverage of the case and said this panel "is our best hope at this point."
