MAKING A CAREER OF POLITICS

The White House went on the record opposing "term limit" laws that try to prevent elected office from turning into a career -- and way of life -- for politicians. The popular -- and populist -- measures swept the country at the turn of the decade, and have been making their way through the courts ever since. One such law, in Arkansas, has now made its way to the Supreme Court, where Clinton's Solicitor General has requested permission to argue against term limits. The First Lawyer will likely use the familiar argument that the new rules undermine the Constitution framers' original intent.
