HEALTH CARE . . . A GOP MISFIRE

A Republican attempt to fill the health care reform vacuum as Democrats' bills flag has run into troubles of its own. The Congressional Budget Office announced a minimalist plan by House Republican Leader Bob Michel of Illinois and Sen. Trent Lott of Mississippi could have the unintended consequence of raising the cost of standard insurance plans, even threatening their existence.
