The Russian government is planning to compensate victims of Soviet political repression for property that was taken from them, most of it under Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin, Radio Free Europe reports. A government spokesman said yesterday that people would either have their property restored or receive a cash compensation, but it's not yet clear exactly how the goods will be parceled out. BTW: What goods? Russia owes foreign creditors $80 billion. Just yesterday, Russia's nervous Economics Minister slapped down a top official for saying the international community should reward the country's contribution to world peace by writing off its debts.
