LAY-AWAY NOW! A leading economic think tank, and one watched closely by chief inflation-fighter Alan Greenspan, is predicting a significant rise in prices by the end of the year. The inflation rate will jump to between 3 and 4 percent from its current rate of a little over 2 percent, says Anirvan Banerji, research economist at The Center for International Business Cycle Research at Columbia University. Banerji told TIME Daily he's looked at seven indicators and they've been up for the last ten months. The Federal Reserve usually moves to curb the inflation rate by raising interest rates.
