That hardy perennial, campaign finance reform, sprouts once again as the House gets ready to vote on a number of competing proposals that could either save our political process or wreck it entirely, depending on whom you believe. In either case, theyre most likely to save political careers and provide fodder for campaign ads: Trent Lott has already warned representatives not to bring any such bill into his Senate chamber this year.

Forget the Goodwill Games -- the real action comes tomorrow in Columbus, Ohio at the opening ceremonies for the 1998 U.S. Transplant Games, a four-day competition in 14 sports. More than 1,500 transplant recipients, including Larry Hagman and Oscar Robertson, will attend. Interestingly enough, the U.S. Postal Service will also take this day to issue a stamp designed to encourage organ and tissue donation.

Finally, take the day off and hang out with your relatives -- tomorrow is the fifth anniversary of the Family Leave Act.
