AIDS . . . MORE BAD NEWS ON AZT

Another dose of bad news for the drug once heralded as the best medicine for AIDS: zidovudine (AZT). U.S. researchers say that the drug has little influence on lengthening the lives of people infected with HIV. Though the onset of full-blown AIDS can be blocked by the drug, the effects are only temporary. The results of the survey were presented today at the 10th International Conference on AIDS, held this year in Yokohama, Japan.
