K.D. Lang's GLAAD Tidings

TIME magazine's cover story on Ellen DeGeneres' coming out, TV's "Entertainment Tonight," singer k.d. lang and the film "Ma Vie en Rose" were among the winners Monday when media image group the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation presented its annual awards. At the first in a series of galas that will take place in Washington and Los Angeles, GLAAD honored pop star lang with a special achievement award. "It's really taken me about six years to process everything that's gone on," lang said of the time since she came out. "All I can tell you is that certainly it's the only way to deal with your life." When presented her award by fellow crooner Tony Bennett, lang joked, "Now if only I could be as handsome as Tony."
