Cinema: Play It To The Bone

Directed by Ron Shelton

Used-up pugs Vince (Woody Harrelson) and Caesar (Antonio Banderas) are last-minute replacements on the undercard for a Las Vegas championship fight. They're best buddies, so, good payday or not, beating up on each other is a bummer. Still, Grace (Lolita Davidovich), whom they both love, is driving them from L.A. She's flaky fun, but the movie never achieves more than feckless amiability. Shelton (Bull Durham) has done better with athletic lowlifes and doubtless will again.
