In the not too distant future–this Saturday–Mike Nelson and his robots will finally call it quits, after 10 seasons of sublime postmodern TV. The rest of us must now make fun of cheesy movies on our own. (Noooo!) The closing film is Danger: Diabolik, a Mario Bava 007 rip-off with swarthy Michel Piccoli (“He’s basically an eyebrow-delivery system”). Happily, the best brains in comedy go out in style–and will be back for a last, “lost” episode Sept. 12. Thanks, guys. You were great.
