Everyone who knew him growing up agrees that Benjamin Goldstein -- Benjy, as they called him -- was a religious boy. In Bensonhurst, his middle-class neighborhood in Brooklyn, the piety of his Orthodox Jewish family set them apart from more secular Jewish neighbors.
