The long-simmering Palestinian revolt against Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza heated up again last week, as protesters engaged in the worst rioting of the summer. In Jerusalem a funeral procession for a 16-year-old allegedly slain by Israeli security forces erupted into a confrontation between rock-hurling rioters and police using live ammunition. As a series of riots swept through Nablus, Jenin and Shuyukh, at least seven more Palestinians were killed. Many were protesting an Israeli decision to end the school year a month early.
