William Anthony (Tony) Boyle, 83, ironfisted labor leader and convicted murderer whose nine-year reign over the United Mine Workers of America was marked by graft and violence; of a heart attack; in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Boyle died in a hospital near the state prison where he was serving three consecutive life terms for ordering the deaths in 1969 of Union Rival Joseph ("Jock") Yablonski, his wife and daughter.
