A sampling of the unauthorized revisions in the House committee records:

> Republican Robert Walker of Pennsylvania said, "I am willing to take part in reasonable hearings." The record quotes him as being "not willing to take part in reasonable hearings."

> Referring to the Democrats' attendance at a hearing, Indiana's John Hiler said, "The majority had about one or two people here." The record changes "majority" to "minority," making it seem that he was criticizing the Republicans.

> A similar change was made when Judd Gregg of New Hampshire complained about the "majority" staff. The record makes it "minority" staff.
