An ounce of marijuana used to cost $5 in Marlow, Okla., and when police were trying to catch a dealer, they just dipped into their own pockets to make the buy. Like everything else, the price of grass is growing. It is $30 an ounce these days, and that is a lot of petty cash for officers who earn $636 a month. Their solution: a fund-raising drive to provide a $1,500 Special Police Fund from which to buy narcotics and pay informants.
