Every home run Henry Aaron hits from now until he retires will set a new record. But his homer on April 8 in Atlanta Stadium will be the one best remembered —that one broke Babe Ruth's 39-year-old record of 714. In the fourth inning, Hank lined a waist-high fastball from Los Angeles Lefthander Al Downing over the left-centerfield fence, where ecstatic Teammate Tom House caught it. Rounding second base, Aaron received a soulful salute from Dodger Shortstop Bill Russell. The warmest greeting came from his wife Billye after he crossed the plate.
