It was the students who started France's near revolution. And even after most of the workers, who they had hoped would prove to be more durable allies, had returned to their jobs, the students still held out in the Sorbonne. Now that stronghold, too, has fallen to the cops, elections have been held, and France is at least temporarily back to normal.
