Aside from her abundant talent, it is reassuring to know that there are those in an often maligned profession who refuse to demean either themselves or their vocations by using popular opinion as a constant beacon. Mrs. Mulligan serves as a rare illustration of the fact that those with sufficient will, intelligence, sensitivity and courage have little need to compromise themselves to succeed.
