The Billion Dollar Club of U.S. Corporations last week welcomed a new member.
In 1952, for the first time, the sales of Kroger Grocery Co. topped $1 billion, and its
earnings rose from $9,000,000 to $12 million. Kroger's chain of 1,891
stores in 19 Midwest states thus became the 26th U.S. company with
annual sales of more than $1 billion.
