U.S. shoppers could buy sheerest-gauge, unbranded nylons last week for
as little as 89¢ a pair, v. $1.20 earlier this year. Reason: when the
Korean war began, shortlived scare buying caused manufacturers to turn
out so many nylons that they glutted the market.
