Nicaragua's Anastasio ("Tacho") Somoza has never intended to be anything but boss of his country. Having been dictator for ten years, he put his own mangoat-bearded Leonardo Argüellointo the presidency only last month (TIME, May 12). Tacho himself stayed on as head of Nicaragua's U.S. Marine-trained National Guard. But things did not go exactly according to plan. President Argüello showed disturbing symptoms of independence. This week it got to be too much for Somoza. His National Guard moved in and took over the Government.
