The Press: Note on Free Speech

In Hollywood the Warner Brothers were peeved. Reasons: 1) an unfavorable review of their Cole Porter picture Night & Day in LIFE; 2) a TIME story on Warners' celebration of the talkies' 20th anniversary. Last week the brothers Warner—whose slogan is "combining good citizenship with good picture making"—barred the staffs of both magazines from their studios and their previews.
