Since wealthy onetime Indian National Congress President Subhas Chandra Bose was jailed last July, becoming the first big-time martyr of Mohandas Gandhi's new drive for Indian self-determination, he has been itching to get back into action. In November he thought up a perfectly legal device. Elected a member of the Indian Legislative Assembly, he requested release long enough for the formal swearing-in ceremony.
