While fishing in Plains, Ga., last April, President Carter glanced up to discover the approach of an unusual foe an enraged rabbit. Just why a rabbit was swimming straight for the Carter canoe, teeth flashing and nostrils flaring, was unclear. Carter later surmised that perhaps the creature was fleeing an attacker.
