Pope buttons, two for $5, pens, medallions, portraits suitable for framing, Vatican flags, pennants proclaiming WELCOME POPE JOHN PAUL II: oceans of junk, rivers of memorabilia. Despite the Pontiffs preaching against materialism, the hucksters were out in full force.
