Americana: One Way to Lick'Em

Here is the latest effort by Yankee traders to gather in some dollars. Each week Dairy land Wholesale, an ice cream producer in Helena, Mont., loads up a truck with 7,200 Popsicles, Fudgesicles and various kinds of ice cream, and has the whole thing flown to Bahrain, in the Persian Gulf. The air freight is $1 per Ib. (about 20¢ per Popsicle) and the goodies sell for about 30¢ apiece in Bahrain. "This is an experiment to see how it works out," says the manager of the plant. The Arabs' reaction so far, however, has been less than enthusiastic.
