Last week, during a time out in Senator Sam Ervin's Select Committee hearings, a remarkable confrontation took place on the playing fields of Washington, D.C. Sam's Sluggers, a softball team composed of the staffs of Ervin's various committees, squared off against the Assistants, a pickup team of Administration and Executive Branch bureaucrats.
