Modern Living: Walking Distances at U.S. Airports

A GROUP of transportation experts took the first steps toward making the public aware of airport walking distances by publishing in 1967 a survey entitled "Air Transportation 1975 and Beyond." While distances have since increased somewhat at several airports, the general pattern remains accurate. The surveyors measured from curbside to aircraft and found these dismaying results (1 mile = 5,280 ft.):
