ADVERTISING: Contraceptives on TV

Advertising the world over is becoming more permissive and explicit. Last week, for the first time in North America, the Canadian Radio-TV Commission approved television commercials for a contraceptive. The product is Delfen foam, made by Ortho Pharmaceutical Ltd., a Toronto-based subsidiary of the U.S.'s Johnson & Johnson. Beginning in about a month, the 60-second color commercial will show a mother and child, with a sound track of cooing and gurgling. The message will stress family planning and will be carried only after 10 p.m.
