Los Angeles Mayor Sam Yorty, a Democrat so selective in his party loyalties that he sometimes aids Republicans, went to the National Press Club in Washington to belittle a Republican whom he has assisted in the past. His target was California Governor Ronald Reagan, whom Yorty helped elect last year, first by running against Democratic Incumbent Edmund Brown in the Democratic primary and then by refusing to support Brown in the general election.
