> In New York, the Times and Daily News came out for Republican Governor Nelson Rockefeller's reelection. Dr. James Murphy, Mrs. Rockefeller's former husband, joined a group of fellow medical men backing Democratic Challenger Frank O'Connor.

> In Maryland's gubernatorial contest, old Democratic Trusty Dean Acheson announced for Republican Spiro Agnew in preference to his party's nominee, George Mahoney, who is openly courting the anti-integration vote....
